My Chiropractic Story

My journey into chiropractic did not start with pain like most people. I started chiropractic care because I was suffering with autoimmune conditions and I had already tried everything else. Chiropractic changed my life!

I have been dealing with autoimmune conditions my entire life. I was diagnosed with celiac disease at 18 months old, followed by eczema, asthma, and alopecia (hair loss). I was bounced from medical doctor to medical doctor looking for answers but was dissatisfied with their solutions. After one doctor suggested getting injections in my scalp with steroids every single week for the rest of my life with no guarantee, I knew I had to look elsewhere. Eventually I came to a homeopathic doctor where for the first time I felt heard. Because of this experience, I knew that I was going to be an alternative health practitioner. I started college as pre-med student. However the emphasis on prescription drugs and big pharma turned me off right away. While in college I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I saw first hand that many of the people living in the nursing home were there dealing with conditions they could have avoided by changing their lifestyle. I was disenchanted with the medical system so turned my focus to studying biology and the natural world. Spending time in nature studying and recreating gave me a deep love for things natural. Little did I know that would be a step towards my love of chiropractic.

During college I struggled with autoimmune issues, and ended up at my parent’s chiropractor when we were at a loss of options. He suggested a diagnosis that was confirmed by my medical doctor and I was thoroughly impressed with his knowledge. I was further impressed with the results of care. Within a few months of getting adjusted, I discovered that my asthma had gone away. The chiropractor explained to me that the body is self-healing and self-regulating except when there is interference to its natural process- otherwise known as a subluxation to the spine. It all clicked when I understood the major premise of chiropractic care. Interference of the body’s normal function via subluxation leads to dis-ease (or lack of ease in the body) and becomes disease if not corrected. The fusion of deeply rooted philosophy, hard science and the artful adjustment is what called me to become the chiropractor I am today.

Living the chiropractic lifestyle has propelled me to achieve many accomplishments I never thought possible. I learned how to eat right and how to move right. I believe full health is being able to do whatever you want when you want. I understand that it takes a village of providers to keep us healthy especially as we age. I am honored to be part of that team. I am here to encourage you on your journey to reach the lifestyle you choose which is possible when you reach your full expression of health.
